I wanted to show China through the people I’ve interacted with. We often view new places through the assumption lens: understanding a situation a certain way, and if someone else has a different view, it must mean that they’re wrong– It’s kind of an automatic response to undiscovered territory. And It causes bias. Even though I try to interact with people by remaining curious, even in uncomfortable situations, I also very much acknowledge I get frustrated too, and I’ve gotten in some interesting situations that contrast/clash with that belief.
But then again, those make for some really fun conversations 😉
